2014-15: Thomas competed in the freestyle sprints… posted season-best times in the 50 (20.43), 100 (46.10) and 200 free (1:41.65) at the Big Ten Championships… also swam the third leg on the 200 free relay team at Big Tens, helping the quartet post the fifth-fastest time in program history… season-best time in the 50 free ranked fourth fastest on the team in 2014-15… contributed to victorious freestyle relay teams in dual meet victories vs. Notre Dame, Michigan State and Miami (Ohio)… qualified for the D final of the 50 free while posting his second-best times of the year in all three of his freestyle events (20.95, 47.06, 1:44.08).
Before Purdue: Three-year state finals qualifier in Florida for coach Amy Wolfenden at Pace High School in the northwest corner of the state... FHSAA state champion in the 100 free as a senior, winning with a time of 45.88... two-time runner-up in the state finals of the 50 free as an upperclassman, posting a time of 20.69 as a senior... 50 free All-American as a senior... two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American... also competed in the 100 breast, 200 free and relays at the FHSAA state meet... two-time team captain as an upperclassman... most improved swimmer as a freshman... swam for coach Philip Kraus on the club level... ranked among the Top 10 in his school academically as a "Pace Setter"... four-year academic honor roll student... member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Pace athletic council and ambassador program.
