2011-12: Academic All-Big Ten... McGough competed in eight different events, racing most frequently in the 200 fly and IM events... honored as the team's most improved performer... qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the 200 IM... his season-best times in the 200 fly (1:49.28, 3rd), 200 IM (1:50.39, 4th) and 400 IM (3:55.44, 4th) all ranked among the top five on the team in 2011-12... qualified for the C final of the 200 fly and 400 IM (placing third) at the Big Ten Championships, finishing with season-best times in the process... posted his season-best time in the 200 IM at the Ohio State Invitational, finishing as the runner-up in the B final... accounted for 21 team points at the Ohio State Invitational after also winning the B final of the 200 fly and taking fourth in the B final of the 400 IM... competed in the 100 fly, 200 free and 200 and 400 IM at the Big Ten Quad... swam the 100 and 200 breast in the dual meet win against Northwestern.

2010-11: McGough competed primarily in butterfly and IM events... his season-best times in the 200 (1:50.32, 2nd) and 400 IM (4:01.27, 3rd) and 200 fly (1:50.11, 4th) all ranked among the top five for Purdue in 2010-11... posted his season-best times in the 200 and 400 IM at the Big Ten Championships, advancing to the C final of both events... recorded his season-best time in the 200 fly at the Ohio State Last Chance meet... advanced to the C final of the 200 and 400 IM and 200 fly at the Purdue Invitational... competed in the 100 fly at the Purdue Invite, Big Ten Quad and dual meet with Indiana, posting a season-best time of 50.82 at the Big Ten Quad... also swam the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

Before Purdue: Four-year varsity letter-winner...high school All-American in the 100 fly and 200 IM...Texas age group swimming champion in the 400 IM as a freshman...helped lead his team to CIF Central Section championships in 2008 and 2009...Junior National qualifier...Academic All-American.

Personal: Full name is Jacob Clayton McGough...born in Fort Smith, Ark....parents are John and Julie McGough...his father swam in college at Northeast Louisiana Unviersity before graduating from Auburn and is the head swim coach and an aquatics director of the Clovis Swim Club...family also includes brother John...majoring in mechanical engineering.
