2010-11: Kiel competed primarily in the backstroke and IM events, posting new Purdue freshman records in the 100 (48.56) and 200 back (1:43.93) and 200 IM (1:48.23)... the freshman IM record had stood since 1994... recorded the team's fastest times of the year in all three events as well as the 400 IM (3:56.63) despite competing in the 400 IM at only three meets... his 100 (4th) and 200 back (3rd) and 200 IM (5th) times all ranked among the top five in program history and were NCAA provisional qualifying marks... swam the third leg on the 800 free relay team (6:28.45) at the Big Ten Championships that established a new school record... finished fifth overall in the 200 back at the Big Ten Championships... scored again with a seventh place finish in the B final of the 100 back at Big Tens... swam the leadoff backstroke leg on Purdue's top two 400 medley relay teams, both posting NCAA provisional qualifying times... also helped the 400 free relay team win and record a provisional qualifying mark at the Big Ten Quad... individually, won the 100 and 200 back at the Big Ten Quad... was among the eight swimmers selected to travel to Dallas for the SMU Classic in January, finishing third in the championship heet of the 200 back and second in the consolation final of the 100 back... also competed in both the 200 and 400 IM and on relays in Dallas... took third in the 200 IM and fourth in 200 back at the Purdue Invitational.

Before Purdue: Four-year varsity letter-winner...won the 100 back at the MSHSL state meet as a junior, establishing a new state record...earned automatic All-American recognition in 2008 and 20009...established new Junior Nationals and Minnesota USA Swimming meet records as a senior...was victorious as both a 17- and 18-year old at the Minnesota Senior State 17-18 High Point (short and long course)...also won as a 15- and 16-year old at the Minnesota Senior State 15-16 High Point...established eight Minnesota firsts at High Point...set 20 Minnesota swimming records at the club level...helped lead Century to a third-place finish at the MSHSL state meet...part of a Senior State 13-and-over state championship team...Scholastic All-American...AP Scholar...honors diploma graduate.
