2012-13: Academic All-Big Ten... Kiel competed primarily in the backstroke events... season-best times in the 100 (47.95) and 200 back (1:44.57) and 200 free (1:37.57) from the Big Ten Championships all ranked as the best on the team in 2012-13... his season-best times in the 100 fly (49.33, 4th) and 200 IM (1:45.85) also ranked among the top five on the team in 2012-13... posted his 200 free time on the leadoff leg of the 800 free relay at the Big Ten Championships that finished with the fourth-fastest time in program history... also swam on the 400 medley relay team at Big Tens that posted the second-fastest time in program history... has been part of three of the four fastest 800 free relay teams in program history... individually among the Purdue all-time Top 10, ranks third in the 100 and 200 back, third in the 200 IM, fifth in the 200 free and 10th in the 400 IM... ranked second on the team with 10 individual victories in 2012-13 and also contributed to four relay winners... accounted for seven team points at the Big Ten Championships by placing fifth in the B final of the 200 back, seventh in the B final of the 200 IM and eighth in the B final of the 100 back... was among the nine Boilers that traveled to Dallas for the prestigious Classic @ SMU, making the trip for the third year in a row... set a new facility record in the 200 back at Michigan State's McCaffree Pool while winning three individual events in the dual meet victory... accounted for 46 team points at the Purdue Invitational by winning the A final of the 200 back along with finishing fourth in the A final of the 100 back and eighth in the A final of the 100 fly... also won heat 3 of the prelims of the 100 fly at the Purdue Invite... swept the backstroke events in the dual meet at Notre Dame... won the 100 back and 200 free at the season-opening Indiana Intercollegiates.

2010-11: Kiel competed primarily in the backstroke and IM events, posting new Purdue freshman records in the 100 (48.56) and 200 back (1:43.93) and 200 IM (1:48.23)... the freshman IM record had stood since 1994... recorded the team's fastest times of the year in all three events as well as the 400 IM (3:56.63) despite competing in the 400 IM at only three meets... his 100 (4th) and 200 back (3rd) and 200 IM (5th) times all ranked among the top five in program history and were NCAA provisional qualifying marks... swam the third leg on the 800 free relay team (6:28.45) at the Big Ten Championships that established a new school record... finished fifth overall in the 200 back at the Big Ten Championships... scored again with a seventh place finish in the B final of the 100 back at Big Tens... swam the leadoff backstroke leg on Purdue's top two 400 medley relay teams, both posting NCAA provisional qualifying times... also helped the 400 free relay team win and record a provisional qualifying mark at the Big Ten Quad... individually, won the 100 and 200 back at the Big Ten Quad... was among the eight swimmers selected to travel to Dallas for the SMU Classic in January, finishing third in the championship heet of the 200 back and second in the consolation final of the 100 back... also competed in both the 200 and 400 IM and on relays in Dallas... took third in the 200 IM and fourth in 200 back at the Purdue Invitational.
