2015-16: Academic All-Big Ten... Schimmelpfenning competed primarily in the distance freestyle events... posted season-best times in the 200 (1:40.06), 500 (4:26.68) and 1650 free (15:35.64) at the Big Ten Championships... accounted for Purdue's best time of the season in the mile and second best in the 500 free... posted his season-best time of 9:44.94 in the 1000 free in the dual meet victory vs. Iowa... accounted for five team points at the Big Ten Championships by qualifying for the C final of the 500 free and finishing 23rd overall in the mile... was the runner-up in the A final of the 500 free at the Purdue Invitational... accounted for 35 team points at the Purdue Invite by also finishing seventh in the mile and third in the B final of the 200 free... lowered his 500 free time by 20 seconds from the intrasquad in October and the Big Ten Championships in February.
2014-15: Schimmelpfenning competed primarily in the mid and distance freestyle events... earned a spot on the travel roster for the Big Ten Championships based on his performance at the Michigan First Chance meet, where he posted a season-best time while winning the mile in 15:35.03... recorded season bests in the 200 (1:38.82) and 500 (4:26.67) at the Big Ten Championships, where he again competed in the mile... his season bests in the 500 and 1650 free both ranked third on the team in 2014-15... raced in the 200 and 500 free as well as the 100 fly at the Minnesota Grand Prix... added the 200 fly to his schedule in his return to Minneapolis for the Big Ten Triple Duals, where he posted his season best in the 1000 free (9:33.04)... swam the third leg on the victorious 800 free relay team in the dual meet win vs. Michigan State... qualified for the C final of the 500 free and the D final of the 200 free at the Minnesota Grand Prix.
Before Purdue: Two-time Peoria Journal Star Area Swimmer of the Year as an upperclassman for coaches Shawn Ribordy and Joao Almedia at Notre Dame High School in Peoria, Ill.... All-American and all-state honoree as an upperclassman while specializing in the mid and distance freestyle events... finished second in the 200 free (1:40.01) and third in the 500 free (4:29.27) in the IHSA state finals as a senior... honorable mention all-state as a sophomore... four-year state qualifier... sectional champion in the 200 and 500 free as a sophomore... part of long course Illinois senior state championship teams in 2013 and 2014 with his Redbird Swim Club... NCSA Junior Nationals and Speedo Championships Series qualifier... honor roll student and National Honor Society member.
