2015-16: Big Ten Distinguished Scholar... Academic All-Big Ten... CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-America... Thomas competed primarily in the backstroke events... posted career-best times in the 100 (48.31) and 200 back (1:44.66) as well as the 200 IM (1:48.69) at the Big Ten Championships... moved into sixth place in program history in the 200 back with a Purdue season-best time... also ranked fifth on the team in 2015-16 in the 100 back and 200 IM... qualified for the C final of both backstroke events at Big Tens, finishing third in the 200, to account for nine team points... accounted for 34 team points at the Purdue Invitational, finishing third in the A final of the 200 back and fifth in the A final of the 100 back while also scoring in the 200 IM... victorious in the 200 back in the dual meet win vs. Miami (Ohio)... won heats of the 100 back, 200 IM and 400 IM at the Purdue Invitational... won his heat of the 100 back at the Indiana Intercollegiates.
2014-15: Thomas competed primarily in the backstroke events... posted season-best times in the 100 (49.67) and 200 back (1:47.24) as well as the 100 fly (50.05) at the Michigan First Chance meet... his season bests in the backstroke events ranked third (200) and fourth (100) on the team in 2014-15... season-best time in the 200 IM (1:56.00) was in the rivalry dual meet with Indiana... won the 200 back and finished second in the 100 back at Michigan... along with the backstroke events, competed in the 200 breast as well as the 400 IM at the Minnesota Grand Prix... qualified for the C final of the 200 back at Minnesota.
Before Purdue: Two-year letterwinner for coach Chip Comery at Central Catholic High School in Lafayette, Ind.... IHSAA state qualifier in the 100 back and 200 IM as a junior... two-time Junior Nationals qualifier on the club level, posting times of 49.81 and 1:48.17 in the 100 and 200 back, respectively, as a senior... played soccer at Central Catholic as an underclassman... honor roll student all eight semesters of high school.
