2011-12: Destro competed in five different events, racing most frequently in the 50 and 100 free and 100 back... regular contributor to relays swam the leadoff backstroke leg on the 200 medley relay team at the Big Ten Championships... won the C final of the 50 free at Big Tens with a season-best time (20.12)... competed in the 50 free the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, winning heat five and placing 48th of 167... his season-best times in the 50 free (4th) and 100 back (49.76, 4th), both from the Big Ten Championships, each ranked among the top five on the team in 2011-12... his season-best time in the 100 free (45.12), from the prelims of Big Tens, was sixth fastest... swam the opening leg on Purdue's fastest 200 medley relay teams of the season... accounted for eight team points at the Ohio State Invitational after qualifying for the B final of the 50 free and 100 back... won the 100 free and swam on both relay winners in the dual meet win versus Miami... also swam on relay winners at the Indiana Intercollegiates, Notre Dame dual, and Michigan State dual... named a team captain for the 2012-13 season.
