2014-15: Mothersead competed primarily in the breaststroke events… posted season-best times in the 100 (55.50) and 200 breast (2:04.02) as well as the 100 fly (52.25) at the Michigan First Chance meet… season-best time in the 100 breast ranked third fastest on the team in 2014-15… finished second in the 100 breast at Michigan… also competed in the home dual vs. Indiana and the season-opening Indiana Intercollegiates.

2013-14: Mothersead competed primarily in the breaststroke events... posted season-best times in the 100 (56.75) and 200 breast (2:04.44) as well as the 50 free (22.66) at the Michigan First Chance meet... competed in the 100 (57.97) and 200 breast (2:09.22) along with the 100 fly (55.96) at the Minnesota Grand Prix... raced in the 100 and 200 breast in five different meets.

Before Purdue: Mothersead was a four-year letter-winner for coach at Avon High School in suburban Indianapolis... qualified for the Indiana state meet in the 100 breaststroke in each of his upperclassman seasons... broke the school record the 100 breast each year... team captain as a senior helped lead Avon to county and sectional championship titles as an upperclassman... qualified for the 2013 Junior Nationals and medaled at Indiana Senior State several times... part of the varsity cross country team as a sophomore.

Personal: Full name is Colin Arthur Mothersead... born in Indianapolis... parents are Garrett and Kerith Mothersead... his father is a University of Minnesota alumnus and works as racecar engineer; mother is the cross country coach at Avon Middle School... family also includes younger siblings Cameron and Kelsie... majoring in engineering.
