WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men’s golf team continues its tour of the Midwest’s top golf courses when it heads to Carmel to play in the Crooked Stick Invitational hosted by Indiana.

Eight of the nation’s top 100 teams will descend on the par-72, 7,290-yard course that has hosted such elite events as the BMW Championship (2016, 2012), the U.S. Senior Open (2009), the Solheim Cup (2005), the U.S. Women’s Open (1993), the PGA Championship (1991) and several other USGA events.

The 54-hole event begins Monday with a shotgun start starting at 9 a.m. ET, with the final round Tuesday consisting of tee times off hole Nos. 1 and 10. The Boilermakers will be paired with North Florida and South Carolina during Monday’s action.

In addition to North Florida and South Carolina, other teams competing will be Indiana, Illinois, Georgia, Michigan State, Kentucky, Ball State, Xavier, Toledo and IUPUI.

Purdue has been in the middle of the pack in all three tournaments and is looking to finish its fall season on a high note. Following this tournament, Purdue will have one event left during the fall, coming at the elite Tavistock Invitational in Windermere, Florida.

The Boilermakers are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate and own a 20-18-1 head-to-head record in the crucial .500 record element. The Boilermakers’ best finish came with a fourth-place finish at the Northern Intercollegiate.

Purdue’s counting squad will include senior Brian Carlson, junior Timmy Hildebrand and freshmen Cole Bradley, Jason Hong and Joe Weiler. Thomas Lewis will compete as an individual.

• Purdue owns a 20-18-1 (.526) head-to-head record, including a 5-4-0 record against Big Ten teams … Purdue has only seen only one team in the field at Crooked Stick, posting an 0-2-0 record against Michigan State.
• Purdue is 1-of-6 schools nationally (Stephen F. Austin, Rutgers, Prairie View, Iowa State and East Tennessee State) to have three freshmen rank among its top-five players … according to, Purdue’s freshman class has had the sixth-best impact on its team in the country, behind Missouri, Boise State, Santa Clara, Clemson and LSU.
• Purdue has played in the Crooked Stick Invitational twice in the last four years, finishing second in both 2013 and 2015 … in 2013, Purdue placed second just five shots behind Arkansas, shooting a 16-over par 880 (295-294-291) … in 2015, Purdue was 19 shots behind champion Illinois, finishing at 21-over par 885 (292-293-300) … Brian Carlson finished tied for third in the 2015 event, shooting even-par 216 (70-72-74).
Brian Carlson and Jason Hong share the team lead in stroke average at 72.44 strokes per round … both of them own a top-10 and a pair of top-20 finishes … Carlson leads the team in birdies made (28), while Hong is tied for the team lead in pars made (106) … the duo has combined for nine even- or under-par rounds (out of 18 possible); the rest of the team has eight combined.
• Carlson owns nine top-10 finishes, good for 10th on the Purdue career top-10 list.
• Carlson has had the team’s low round in six-of-nine possible rounds.  Carlson ranks eighth on the career strokes average list (73.67) … he is 1-of-19 players in Purdue history to play at least 110 career rounds.
