WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team will return to action on Sunday when the Olympia Fields CC/Fighting Illini Invitational gets under way outside Chicago.
The 54-hole event will be contested over three days on the South Course at Olympia Fields, with tee times slated for 10 a.m. ET on Sunday and 9 a.m. ET on both Monday and Tuesday. The South Course is a par-70 track that runs 7.080 yards.
The Boilermakers and their fellow competitors will have a unique opportunity before tournament play starts, attending the afternoon matches of the Ryder Cup on Saturday at Medinah after their practice round at Olympia Fields.
Purdue is part of a loaded 14-team field heading to Olympia Fields this weekend, matching up with the likes of No. 8 Arkansas, No. 11 Stanford, No. 12 Florida, No. 16 Florida State, No. 21 Duke and No. 24 Clemson. In addition to the host Illini, the Boilers will also compete against Big Ten foes Indiana and Northwestern.
For the second time in three starts this season, junior Adam Schenk will play in the No. 1 position for the Boilermakers this weekend. The Vincennes, Ind., native posted a tie for third at the Purdue/Midwest Shootout in his last outing, and has a 74.60 stroke average in five rounds this season.
Freshman Jonathan DiIanni, the team leader with a 74.40 scoring average this season, will play No. 2 for Purdue. Sophomore Justin Cho will play No. 3 at Olympia Fields, and is the only Purdue player so far this season who has counted each of his rounds to the team score. Sophomore Enzo Perez will play No. 4 and redshirt freshman David Cooke, who also tied for third at the Purdue/Midwest Shootout, will play No. 5.
