WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Fresh off of a season-opening victory in New York, the Purdue men's golf team will remain on familiar ground this weekend when it plays host to the Purdue/Midwest Shootout at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The 36-hole event will be contested on Purdue's Kampen Course, a par-72, 7,465-yard venue that was ranked fourth on the Golf Channel's list of the 10 best college courses. In addition to the Boilermakers, the Purdue/Midwest Shootout field will include Chicago State, IPFW, Loyola (Ill.) and Miami (Ohio).
Purdue head coach Devon Brouse will again utilize all five golfers who played their way to victory at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate last weekend. Junior Tyler Duncan, who paced the Boilermakers with a sixth-place finish in Verona, will assume the top spot in the order. The Columbus, Ind., native averaged 74.00 strokes per round at the season opener.
After tying for 10th place at Turning Stone, senior Nakarintra Ratanakul and freshman Sam Fu will play second and third, respectively, for the Boilermakers on Saturday. Freshman Adam Schenk, a top-20 finisher last weekend, will play fourth and junior William Sjaichudin man the fifth spot in Purdue's lineup.
In addition to the Boilers' five-man lineup, seniors David Gersztein and Erich Johnston, junior Scott Busch, sophomore Henry Plager and freshman Edward Peters will all see their first action of the season when they compete as individuals on Saturday.
The five-team field is tentatively scheduled to take the course at 9 a.m. ET. There will be no charge for admission.
