NORMAN, Okla. - The Purdue men's golf team was recognized with Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic Team honors on Wednesday. Presented by Farmers Insurance, the GCAA honored 89 teams across the nation that secured a combined grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.
It marks the second straight season the Boilermakers have earned national team honors, following a Spring Academic All-Big Ten announcement in May, which saw at least four members of the team earn conference recognition.
"Farmers Insurance is proud to honor and support the GCAA and their 2013 recipients of the 2013 Team Academic Awards," said Chuck Browning, Head of Sponsorship and Corporate Giving for Farmers Insurance. "A key philanthropic pillar of Farmers Insurance is Education, thus this award is a perfect fit for us and gives us a chance to extend our support of golf throughout the year. It is also an extension of our University Day platform at the Farmers Insurance Open, which we continue to see great success on each year."
Brown University was named the GCAA Academic National Champion as they submitted a record-high 3.74 team GPA, and was one of 10 squads to secure President's Special Recognition for a GPA of at least 3.5.
