COLUMBUS, Ohio - Junior Adam Schenk shot 72 (+1) on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Columbus Regional to finish the day in a tie for 10th place.
Schenk is battling for an individual spot in this month's NCAA Championship in Atlanta. The top individual on a non-advancing team will leave Columbus with that spot on Saturday.
Schenk is five strokes behind individual leader Raoul Menard of Charlotte with 36 holes left to play.
The first-team All-Big Ten selection had a relatively clean card on Thursday, posting just two birdies and three bogeys to go along with 13 pars. He played the front nine at +1 before coming down the back at even par.
The second round of the NCAA Columbus Regional will start at 8 a.m. ET on Friday. Live results will be available via golfstatresults.com.
