Carlson Named B1G Golfer of the Week
March 21, 2018

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue senior Brian Carlson was named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week after capturing his second medalist honor of his career this past week.

It marks the fourth career, and second this spring, Big Ten weekly honor for the Madison, Connecticut, native.

Carlson posted a 9-under par 207 (67-70-70) to win medalist honors by one shot over North Florida’s Andrew Alligood. The victory was Carlson’s second of his career after winning the Windon Memorial in Sept. 2015.

His 207 tally tied for the ninth-lowest score in school history and he became the first player in school history to post three scores of 207 or better during his career.

Carlson leads the team with a 71.71 stroke average, good for second on the all-time Purdue list. He owns four top-10 finishes and six top-20 finishes in eight events this year and his 73.38 career stroke average ranks third all-time.

He owns 12 top-10 showings in 42 career events, ranking sixth on the Purdue career top-10 placings list.

Carlson and his teammates will be off for almost a month, hosting the Boilermaker Invitational at the Kampen Course on April 14 and 15. It will be the final tune-up for the Big Ten Championships in Baltimore on April 27 through 29.
