WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men’s golf team will open its spring season on Friday when it faces off with its conference brethren at the Big Ten Match Play Championship.
The Big Ten Match Play Championship will once again be held at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. Competition will begin at 7:30 a.m. ET on Friday, with the Boilermakers taking the course at 8:10 a.m. ET against Nebraska. The winner of the Purdue-Nebraska match will advance to play Iowa on Friday afternoon.
The six-man contingent that will represent Purdue at the fifth-annual event consists of senior Jakob Ziegler, junior Adam Schenk, sophomores Justin Cho and Ben-Marvin Egel and freshmen David Cooke and Jonathan DiIanni.
Purdue tied for third at last season’s Big Ten Match Play Championship, falling to eventual champion Minnesota in the semis based on total margin of victory. The Boilers’ best finish in the event is a second-place showing in 2010.
