WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team and South Alabama both shot a team total of 300 to share the lead after today's first round of play in the fifth annual Adams Cup of Newport Collegiate Golf Tournament.

The second round of play, originally scheduled for the afternoon, had to be cancelled due to unplayable weather conditions (heavy rain and gusting winds) and will not be made up. The final round will take place tomorrow morning, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Point Judith Country Club in Narragansett, R.I.

Individually for the Boilermakers senior Bert Jones, along with three other competitors, share the top spot on the individaul leader board after each shot a 73. Right on the heals of the leaders is freshman Lee Williamson, who is just one stroke back after firing a first round, 74. Senior Colby Huffman is two strokes off the lead going into tomorrow's final day of action.
