SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Purdue sits third in the Desert Mountain Men’s Golf Intercollegiate after play was suspended due to darkness late in the second round Saturday.

The 42nd-ranked Boilermakers (-1) combined for a 7-under first round earlier in the day but are 6 over in the second 18 at the Outlaw Course at Desert Mountain.

No. 44 Kansas (-12) and No. 34 Saint Mary’s (-2) are first and second on the team leaderboard.

Only 13 of the 69 players finished 36 holes. Play is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. local Sunday with completion of round 2, flowing immediately into round 3 with the same pairings as rounds 1 and 2.

Purdue senior Brian Carlson (-5) remains in a five-way tie for second overall, two strokes behind leader Blake Tomlinson (-7) of Utah. Carlson carded a first-round 68 and sits 1-under after 15 holes in the second round.

All five Boilermakers stand in the top 32. Jarle Volden, 14th overall, counts even par after 33 holes; Jason Hong, tied for 20th, is 3 over; and Cole Bradley and Joe Weiler are tied for 32nd with 6-over scores.

Purdue has spring tournament finishes of first and third after capturing the Big Ten Match Play co-championship and outpacing five top-35 teams at the Puerto Rico Classic.
