Brian Brodell is in his third season as an assistant coach on the Purdue staff after being hired in August 2011.

Brodell's duties as an assistant coach include recruiting, instruction, organization of team practice, scheduling, team travel and assistance with golf camps. In his first season with the Boilermakers, Brodell helped the men's team earn a berth in the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.

Brodell still plays golf competitively, including competing in three PGA Professional National Championships, tying for 24th at Sun River Resort in 2013. He qualified for the 2013 web.com United Leasing Championship, tied for sixth at the 2012 Indiana State Open and was the runner up for Indiana PGA Player of the Year in 2012.

Prior to his arrival in West Lafayette, Brodell served as assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin, his alma mater, for four seasons. During his tenure, he helped lead the Badgers to a 2008 NCAA Regional appearance.

During his tenure with UW, Brodell also was a teaching professional at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison. Brodell served as an assistant professional at Butte Des Morts Country Club in Appleton, Wis., from 2004 to 2007.

An accomplished golfer, Brodell played for Wisconsin from 2001 to 2005, playing in every event as a senior and helping the team set the program's single-season record for scoring average. He was the 1999 Wisconsin Junior Player of the Year, 2000 Wisconsin High School Player of the Year and 2003 Wisconsin State Amateur champion.

In 2009, Brodell competed in the PGA Tour U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee.

The Hortonville, Wis., native graduated from Wisconsin in 2005 with a B.A. in political science. He has a wife, Elizabeth.
