WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's Ricardo Allen has been named a second team Freshman All-American by Rivals.com.

Starting all 12 games at cornerback as a true frosh, Allen finished tied for third for the Boilermakers with 73 total tackles, including 56 solo stops and 3.5 for losses with one sack.

He wrapped up his first season at Purdue with a team-high three inceptions and returned two of them for touchdowns on back-to-back weekends against Michigan and No. 11 Michigan to tie the school season record. He was one of only seven players in the Football Bowl Subdivision to return two or more interceptions for touchdowns and merely one of three true freshmen.
