WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The East-West Shrine Game has announced that Purdue seniors Ricardo Allen and Bruce Gaston will take part in the annual game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Jan. 18, 2014.
Allen, a four-year starter at cornerback from Daytona Beach, Fla., finished his collegiate career second in school history with 13 interceptions, including a career-high six in 2013. He owns the school record for most career interceptions returned for touchdowns with four and his 203 solo tackles ranks 17th all-time at Purdue. In 50 career games played, Allen racked up 253 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three fumbles forced, a field goal block and 15 PBUs.
Gaston, a four-year starter at defensive tackle from Chicago, wrapped up his Boilermaker career with 132 total tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two fumbles forced, four fumbles recovered and two PBUs. Gaston's block of an Ohio State extra point with 55 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter helped the Boilermakers knock off Ohio State in overtime in 2011.
