WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Lafayette Kiwanis Club and the Purdue football program capped off the 2013 season with the 93rd annual Senior Appreciation Banquet at the Purdue Memorial Union on Sunday. Center Robert Kugler, cornerback Ricardo Allen and punter Cody Webster we named the offensive, defensive and special teams MVPs in a vote by their teammates.
Offensive lineman Charlie Long and defensive end John Strauser were named the Verle H. Campbell Award winners, which is presented to the outstanding scout team players of the year as selected by the coaching staff.
Senior captain Rob Henry was named the Guy "Red" Mackey Award winner - present to a player on each varsity team at Purdue that exemplify the overall success of the University's intercollegiate athletics programs, as well as the Noble E. Kizer Award for a second straight year. The Kizer Award is presented to the football player with the highest grade point average over the last two semesters.
The Leonard Wilson Award, presented to the players who best exemplify the unselfishnessand dedication of the late Leonard Wilson, was presented to tight end Justin Sinz and cornerback Frankie Williams.
After throwing for 485 yards and four touchdowns against rival Indiana, freshman quarterback Danny Etling was named the "Pop" Doan Award winner for the best performance against the rival Hoosiers.
The Kawanis Citizenship Award was presented to Kurt Freytag for his on-field play, community service and dedication to academics.
The inaugural "A" Player Award went to Robert Kugler as a team membr who earned an "A" in the classroom, on the football field and in the comminuty.
