WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.  - Twelve Purdue football players have earned All-Big Ten honors for the 2009 season, as voted by the conference coaches and media and announced tonight on the Big Ten Network.

Juniors Ryan Kerrigan and Keith Smith were each recognized as first team members in the vote by the media members and were second team selections by the league coaches.

Sophomore running back Ralph Bolden and senior cornerback David Pender garnered second team honors by both the media and coaches, and senior Brandon King, Pender's opposite in the Purdue secondary, picked up second team honors from the coaches and honorable mention recognition by the media

Quarterback Joey Elliott (media), left tackle Zach Jones (media), defensive tackle Mike Neal (media), right guard Ken Plue (coaches), kicker Carson Wiggs (coaches and media), safety Torri Williams (coaches and media) and center Jared Zwilling (media) were all feted with honorable mention recognition.

Elliott was also named Purdue's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.

The Boilermakers, who opened the season 1-5, won four of their final six games to finish 5-7 overall and tied for sixth in the Big Ten with a 4-4 league record. Highlights from the season included a win over No. 7 Ohio State, the first victory at Michigan since 1966 and a second straight Old Oaken Bucket win over Indiana.

Ralph Bolden (Second Team Coaches, Second Team Media)
Purdue's leading rusher with 935 yards and nine touchdowns ... Third in Big Ten with a 77.9 yards per game average.

Joey Elliott (Honorable Mention Media)
Threw for 3,026 yards and 22 touchdowns in his only starting season ... Big Ten leader in passing average (252.2) and total offense (274.5).

Zach Jones (Honorable Mention Media)
36 consecutive starts from 2007-09.

Ryan Kerrigan (First Team Media, Second Team Coaches)
Big Ten leader in sacks (13.0) and fumbles forced (7) ... Third in the Big Ten in tackles for loss (18.5).

Brandon King (Second Team Coaches, Honorable Mention Media)
Tied for ninth in the Big Ten in interceptions (3).

Mike Neal (Honorable Mention Media)
Had a career-high 35 total tackles, including 11.5 for losses.

David Pender (Second Team Media, Second Team Coaches)
Big Ten leader with 13 passes defended ... Finished his career at Purdue tied for second all-time with 33 PBUs.

Ken Plue (Honorable Mention Coaches)
Started all 12 games at right guard in 2009.

Keith Smith (First Team Media, Second Team Coaches)
Big Ten leader in receptions (7.6) and receiving yards (91.7) per game ... Recorded just the 12th 1,000-yard receiving season in school history (1,100).

Carson Wiggs (Honorable Mention Coaches, Honorable Mention Media)
Seventh in the Big Ten in scoring (6.8 points per game) ... Kicked the longest field goal in the nation against Toledo (59 yards).

Torri Williams (Honorable Mention Coaches, Honorable Mention Media)
Team leader and 16th in the Big Ten in tackles per game (7.1) ... Led Purdue with 84 total tackles in 2009.

Jared Zwilling (Honorable Mention Media)
Started all 12 games at center.
