Oct. 10, 2004 WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Chris Fowler, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit will bring their College GameDay road show to the doorstep of Ross-Ade Stadium this Friday and Saturday, a prelude to the Purdue-Wisconsin Homecoming game. The show will originate from Rankin Track and Field, southwest of Ross-Ade. The site was selected by ESPN after consulting with Intercollegiate Athletics staff this past week. "ESPN always does its homework, so they were in touch with our sports information office last week. Our facilities staff came up with the idea of using the Ross-Ade Pavilion as a backdrop and the wide open space we have at Rankin track for the stage and production facilities," said Morgan Burke, director of intercollegiate athletics. "We think it's going to be the ideal place to stage this immensely popular show and showcase Purdue University at the same time." This is the first time College GameDay has graced the West Lafayette Campus. Last season, Purdue was the visitor when GameDay originated in Madison and Columbus. Purdue is 5-0 and ranked fifth in the Associated Press Poll. At 6-0, Wisconsin is ranked 10th. Although College GameDay kicks off ESPN coverage on Saturday morning, Fowler, Corso and Herbstreit check in on SportsCenter on Friday night during a segment to be taped Friday afternoon. "This our first go-around with College GameDay, so we're hoping fans from far and wide - and especially our students who live on and near campus - will be out Friday night and early on Saturday to join in the fun," said Tom Schott, sports information director. "We know the signature look of the Pavilion will make an impression on ESPN's national audience, and we'd like our fans to do the same.
