WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference has announced that Purdue punter Cody Webster has been named the league's Special Teams Player of the Week. The honor is the first in Webster's career and the second conference recognition for a Boilermaker this season (Frankie Williams, Sept. 3 Big Ten Freshman of the Week).
Webster punted seven times and placed six of his kicks inside Notre Dame's 20 last Saturday in South Bend. He averaged 43.3 yards per punt, with a long of 55, while helping to limit the Irish to merely 1 punt return yard. Due in part to Webster's punting, Notre Dame's average starting position for the game was its own 26.
Webster and the Boilermakers return to action on Saturday when they host Eastern Michigan at noon in Ross-Ade Stadium.
