Your Guide To 2017 Purdue Football

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - David Blough summed it up in one word.

"Breathtaking."

The junior quarterback thusly described the Boilermakers' new locker room in the Football Performance Complex. He and his teammates got their first glance at their new home Thursday night.

"It is absolutely incredible," Blough said. "The best thing about it, besides all the bells and whistles, is that it has Purdue's character. The wood, it's tough, it's classy. It is so unbelievably nice. It certainly proves the commitment by Purdue University to football and getting this program back on the right track. It makes a statement."

The 11,600-square foot locker room, which is located on Level 1, consists of 120 fully vented custom wood lockers, each 36 inches wide.

"Walking over there, there was a sense of `I can't believe it is finally finished,' and `I don't know if I deserve it,'" Blough said. "Then, walking in there, knowing how many of my teammates have poured their hearts into this program over the last three and a half to four years, it was kind of emotional to be honest. That so many people would give money and make it possible for us, I can't say thank you enough."

Besides its sheer size, here are the amenities that make the locker room stand out:

* P logo measuring 27 feet by 14 feet suspended from the ceiling
* Lockers trimmed with 800 linear feet of LED lighting
* Backlit player nameplates
* Honored Boilermakers of the past recognized on plaques in the lockers of the uniform number they wore
* Video wall with four screens totaling 16 feet wide by 9 feet high
* Four televisions -- one in each corner
* Custom spike-proof carpet throughout

"Our coaches who played in the NFL said they have never seen a locker room like it," Blough said. "And some of my former teammates who are playing in the league were asking me to send them pictures. They could not believe it. There's an excitement around it, and it adds to that renewed optimism that Purdue football is headed in the right direction."

The Football Performance Complex is a three-level structure amassing 112,000 square feet. It also includes a team meeting room, position group meeting rooms, player development room, weight room, sports medicine and hydrotherapy area, nutrition station, and coaches' and support staff offices, as well as a grand entrance lobby showcasing the Boilermakers' history and tradition.
