WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - For the first time in its eight-year history, ESPN's critically acclaimed College GameDay with host Chris Fowler and analysts Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit will let fans decide which college football matchup the show will originate from Saturday, Oct. 7, via online votes on ESPN.com.

Voting begins Friday, Aug. 25 and will continue through Saturday, Sept. 30 at espn.go.com/ncf/index.html.

Purdue plays host to preseason fourth-ranked and Big Ten Conference favorite Michigan that day at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette.

Other games under consideration:

No. 2 Florida at No. 6 Miami (Fla.)
No. 12 Tennessee at No. 11 Georgia
No. 20 Oklahoma at No. 8 Texas
No. 15 Ohio State at No. 5 Wisconsin
Louisiana State at No. 7 Florida
Oregon State at No. 14 Washington

Some choices will be elimiated as game results unfold. ESPN.com users will be able to vote once for each series of choices. GameDay will introduce the poll during its 2000 season opener Sunday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. EDT on ESPN2 from Blacksburg, Va., and update the results live on subsequent Saturdays.

Since 1993, College GameDay, television's definitive and most comprehensive college football studio show, has traveled most weeks on college football Saturdays to the day's big game and has been met by large and enthusiastic crowds. The one-hour program, which airs live on ESPN at 11 a.m. EDT, covers all college football angles, issues and game previews, including exclusive interviews and behind-the-scene features.

GameDay also is considering Purdue's home game against Ohio State on Oct. 28
