At A Glance: Barron started all 12 games last season at center and was voted a 2017 captain by his teammates early in training camp. McCann, an Academic All-Big Ten selection, appeared in 11 games last year and made 10 starts in his redshirt freshman season. With the departure of four-year starters Jason King and Jordan Roos, a depth issue in the spring the spring was been addressed with the addition of graduate transfers Evans and Steinmetz. Evans played in 18 games at Northern Illinois and Steinmetz started 31 games in three seasons at Rhode Island.

Fun Fact: Yacoobi interned this past summer with Hunt Construction, the company that built the Boilermakers' new Football Performance Complex.

Williams Says: "We have some top guys. The top five are not set. We are still mixing and matching some parts, so we're not there yet. I feel better today about the group than I did in the spring. I have to get some guys ready to go for the first game. I have two weeks to do that, so I'll feel better in two weeks. The effort has stood out - the wantingness to learn and get better."

Steinmetz Says: "I see a lot of competition on the line. I see a lot of guys wanting to get better. We all want to play. I see a lot of passion. We have a lot of fight on the line. Coach Williams helps create that fight and the urge to be better than we are. He gets the best out of everyone."

Practice Notes: Wednesday's practice was one of the hottest of camp through the first two weeks. The offensive line has identified about eight guys the staff is comfortable with to this point. Jeff Brohm and the rest of his staff will continue to analyze and evaluate through the next couple weeks to refine that group to a starting five.
