WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue football team scrimmaged in Ross-Ade Stadium on Monday afternoon as the rain fell. The defense was very aggressive and seemed to have an upper hand for most of the day’s second session.
Purdue’s scrimmage on Monday included a full length halftime. Purdue head coach Danny Hope decided to include the break because of the team’s lack of productivity in third quarters a year ago. Following the halftime, the offense came back out and was able to put the ball in the end zone for multiple scores.
Coach Hope praised the play of transfer offensive linemen Devin Smith and said that he has an opportunity to start in the fall if he continues to progress as he has thus far. Derek Jackson was another named mentioned after practice. Coach Hope talked about how physical the fullback was, especially in goal line situations.
