WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Palm Beach County Sports Commission has announced that Purdue's Carson Wiggs is one of 30 players nationwide to be named to the initial Lou Groza Award watch list. The Groza Award is presented to the top Football Bowl Subdivision kicker upon conclusion of the regular season in December.

Wiggs, who took over the place kicking duties for the Boilermakers midway through the 2008 season, enters his second year at Purdue 8 for 11 on field goal attempts and 19 for 21 on extra points. His school-record 53-yard field goal at Ohio State last year was the first successful conversion of his collegiate career and was the longest in the nation by a true freshman.

The Boilermakers, who opened fall camp last Saturday, will kick off their first season under the direction of head coach Danny Hope against Toledo at Ross-Ade Stadium on Sept. 5.
