WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis will be a sea of gold and black as Purdue fans gather for the Boilermaker Tailgate on the Circle on Friday, Aug. 30.
The event is a super-sized pep rally from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to send off the football team as it heads to Cincinnati for the season opener the following day (noon kickoff). The Tailgate will provide the full game-day scene, including the entire team, first-year head coach Darrell Hazell, cheerleaders, pep band, Purdue Pete, the World's Largest Drum and the Boilermaker Special.
Special guests to be present are Purdue University President Mitch Daniels; Athletics Director Morgan Burke; and other notable Purdue graduates, including event emcees Angela Buchman and Kevin Gregory, past Miss Indiana MerrieBeth Cox, and numerous Boiler football legends.
The festive rally will feature Purdue's all-star fleet of tailgate vehicles displayed around Monument Circle plus vendor food trucks, a beer garden featuring Sun King Brewing, an autograph area of past football all-stars and logo merchandise for purchase.
The Tailgate on the Circle is sponsored and organized by the Boiler Business Exchange of Indianapolis (BBE). Purdue fans and friends far and wide are encouraged to join the rally.
