Camp News and Notes

• The Boilers pulled out the shoulder pads for the first time in fall camp. High clouds overhead cooled the the day down considerable from Sunday.

• In the blitz session, cornerback Josh Johnson picked off a pass and tight end Gabe Holmes hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass.

• Kicker Carson Wiggs was four of five on field goal attempts, with a long of 52 yards.

• In 1 v. 1, Normondo Harris picked off a pass, Kurt Lichtenberg made a leaping grab along the sideline and Charles Torwudzo made a nice catch in traffic.

• In skelly, Rob Henry connected with Justin Siller on a 15-yard pass on the first rep, but the defense held stout over the next three plays, including a big hit by Will Lucas that jarred loose a potential touchdown pass.

• The team drills featured an emphasis on third down offense and defense. Highlights from the drills including strong play out of linebacker Joe Holland, sacks by Bruce Gaston and Kawann Short, a 10-yard run by Derek Jackson, a forced fumbled by Lucas and a 10-yard rush by Ralph Bolden.

• The Boilers will return to the practice field again on Tuesday in shells in the afternoon before going in full pads on Wednesday.
