Let’s Play Football in Indianapolis

Position Coach: Brian Brohm

Returning Starter: David Blough (Jr.)
Other Returning Letterwinners: Elijah Sindelar (So.)
Others: Griffin Alstott (Fr.), Aaron Banks (Jr.), Danny Carollo (R-Fr.), Aidan O’Connell (Fr.), Nick Sipe (Fr.), Jared Sparks (R-Fr.)

At A Glance: Blough started all 12 games last season – he has 20 career starts - and led the Big Ten Conference with 279.3 passing yards per game. His 25 passing touchdowns a year ago rank tied for fifth on the Purdue season list, while his 3,352 passing yards are seventh. Sindelar appeared in five games in 2016, completing 14 of 32 passes for 165 yards.

Fun Fact: Griffin Alstott is the son of legendary Purdue and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fullback Mike Alstott, while Nick Sipe is the nephew of former Cleveland Browns quarterback and 1980 National Football League Most Valuable Player Brian Sipe.

Brian Brohm Says: "David Blough is a leader of the football team. He is throwing the ball well. We're working through all the reads and he's doing a good job with that. There's always things to work on each and every practice and he comes to work ready to go every single day. He's a great leader for our group and our team."

Blough Says: "I think we've come out and competed really well the first two days. We still have to work on stretching the field, but we're finding some completions. I thought yesterday was a pretty crisp day for the offense, as a first day probably should be. Then we added some stuff today and didn't execute quite as well. We need to be in the books and really study tonight so we can come out tomorrow and have a good day."

Practice Notes: After a clean day passing Thursday for the offense, the defense came up with a few interceptions Friday. Blough, Sindelar, Sparks and the rest of the quarterback group has been working to find continuity with the several new wide receivers, including, as Blough mentioned, Holmes and Zico. The running back room is one of the deepest groups on the team, Jeff Brohm said Thursday. Saturday, the team is expected to come out in shoulder pads and helmets for the first time in fall camp.
