2013 Season Preview

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Sunny skies and warm weather welcomed in the first fall football practice of the Darrell Hazell coaching era on Saturday morning at the Bimel Practice Complex. The Boilermakers donned helmets and jerseys for their first session in front of numerous excited fans.

The practice was the first for the incoming freshmen and Hazell was impressed with them including wide receiver Dan Monteroso whom he mentioned after practice. Hazell also mentioned that he thought it was a good practice, though he would like to see the team be sharper and have a faster tempo.

On the defensive side of the Ricardo Allen stood out after making a number of plays including an early interception in team drills. Hazell said that he thought that Allen was also in great position to make a couple more big plays.

Akeem Hunt and Bruce Gaston talked to Boilermaker All-Access following practice. Both talked about the team's dedication during the summer and how excited they are to be back on the field. You can catch those full interviews as well as Hazell's, offensive coordinator John Shoop, and defensive coordinator Greg Hudson below.

The team will be back on the practice field on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET at the Bimel Practice Complex, weather permitting. The practice is open to the public and fans may watch from the hill on the north end of the complex, though pictures and video are not permitted.
