Field Update - Ross-Ade Stadium

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Athletics Department officials today announced two more temporary projects at Ross-Ade Stadium designed to improve football fans' game-day experience.

First, four non-working speakers among the cluster of 12 located in the south end zone scoreboard have been replaced, and the entire system is being rebalanced to better distribute the sound and volume throughout the stadium.

Second, a distributed antenna system (DAS) is being deployed at various points along the concourse level designed to improve cell phone coverage. A permanent - and better - solution initially was planned for this season but has been delayed until 2015. The proposed equipment designed to be used at field level was rejected by athletics department officials because it was more intrusive than anticipated.

A complete distributed antenna system is being designed for Mackey Arena, as well.

Earlier this month, the Ross-Ade South End Zone Patio was introduced as a temporary addition to Ross-Ade while athletics department officials continue to plan for a major renovation to the area in the coming years. The renovation is expected to include a new scoreboard and sound system.

The patio will be available to football season-ticket holders and Purdue students who have purchased the VIP Card. It will open one and a half hours before kickoff and close at the end of the game.

Anchored by a 3,200-square-foot high-peak tent, the space will also feature several pergolas and an array of patio-style furniture, including tables with umbrellas. Fans will be able to purchase typical tailgate food and beverage, including beer and wine. Six 46-inch televisions will be mounted throughout.

Season-ticket and VIP Card holders will receive an access card that will permit entry to the area. For a complete explanation of entry and access procedures, click here.
