WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference has announced senior linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, junior quarterback David Blough and senior linebacker Danny Ezechukwu will represent Purdue at media day and the 46th-Annual Kickoff Luncheon in Chicago. Blough has been chosen by the conference as the student-athlete speaker for the luncheon and will represent the 42 Big Ten players in attendance.
The trio, along with first-year head coach Jeff Brohm, will take part in media day activities Tuesday, July 25, attending the luncheon in between.
Bentley, a three-year letterwinner and two-time team captain, is coming off a 2016 season that saw him finish fifth on the team with 50 total tackles, including 7.0 for loss. In his collegiate career, the Glenarden, Maryland, native has racked up 175 total tackles and 18 tackles for loss in 26 games played. This will be the second consecutive year Bentley will represent Purdue at media day.
Blough, from Carrollton, Texas, took over the starting quarterback position midway through his redshirt freshman season and started all 12 games under center for the Boilermakers last year. Completing 295 of 517 passes for 3,352 yards and 25 touchdowns, he led the Big Ten in passing yards per game average (279.3) in 2016. His yardage total was seventh in school history and the touchdown total tied for fifth. Blough is the first Purdue student-athlete to speak at the Kickoff Luncheon since wide receiver Keith Smith in 2010.
Ezechuckwu, a three-year letterwinner from Lithonia, Georgia, appeared in all 12 games for the Boilermakers in 2016 and finished the season fourth on the team with 52 total tackles. In 36 career games, he has posted 174 total tackles, including 6.5 for loss.
