WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Football and the Greater Lafayette Commerce are excited to announce that former Boilermaker offensive lineman and NFL standout Matt Light will be the keynote speaker for the 69th Annual Purdue Football Kickoff Luncheon. The event is scheduled for Friday, August 17, at 11:30 a.m. in the Purdue Memorial Union Ballrooms, and tickets are available now through the Greater Lafayette Commerce.
Light played for the Boilermakers from 1996 to 2000, starting 37 games and earning a pair of All-Big Ten honors. A first team all-conference pick in 2000 and a second-team honoree in 1999, Light protected the blind side of Purdue great Drew Brees and was the leader of an offensive line that allowed just 38 sacks on 1,690 pass attempts. He helped the Boilermakers to the 2000 Big Ten title and their first Rose Bowl appearance in 35 years.
In the NFL, Light played 140 games (starting 138) with the New England Patriots as a part of eight division titles, four AFC crowns and three Super Bowl Championship victories. A three-time NFL Pro Bowl selection, he also earned AP First Team All-Pro honors in 2007.
For tickets to this year's event, register online with the Greater Lafayette Commerce or call (765) 742-4044.
