WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - In the spirit of Fourth of July weekend, season ticket sales for Purdue football are booming.

Athletic ticket manager George Ade reported this afternoon that 38,993 season tickets had been sold, representing an increase of 8.8 percent over last year at the same time.

The total includes 22,762 general public tickets (up 1,603), 1,841 Purdue faculy/staff tickets (up 70) and 2,201 south end zone tickets (up 1,158). The student total is 7,991 (up 173).

Recent final season ticket numbers include 42,418 in 2004, 40,311 in 2003 and 37,763 in 2002. The all-time Purdue season ticket record is 43,796 during the 2000 season.

Ade said the current pace of sales points to season ticket sales of 45,000 or more.

Season tickets for the Boilermakers' six home games (Akron, Notre Dame, Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan State and Illinois) are priced at $204 for the general public, $163 for Purdue faculty/staff and $84 for students. Mini three-game packages (excluding Notre Dame) are $114.
