WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Kirk Barron has been named to the watch list for the 2018 Rimington Trophy, presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football. Barron is but one of five centers from the Big Ten Conference named to the initial list.

A Purdue graduate with a degree in organizational leadership, Barron has started 26 career games and appeared in 30 overall contests. Voted a captain by his teammates prior to last season, he blocked for an offense that averaged 403.1 yards of total offense per game and defeated Arizona in the Foster Farms Bowl in 2017.

Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
