WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Fans are invited to Purdue's Spring Football Game this Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m. in Ross-Ade Stadium. Admission is free for the event, which will close the Boilermakers' spring drills.
The senior players conducted a draft to divide the squad for Saturday's game. The competition will feature actual live game-situation action. Kickoffs will be handled live and punts will be fair caught.
Sophomore-to-be quarterback Drew Brees will play three quarters for each team, with walk-on Carl Buergler also quarterbacking each squad for one quarter apiece.
"Spring practice has become more competitive with each practice session," coach Joe Tiller said. "That is a positive. We have used the spring to sort things out, personnel-wise, and now we're anxious to see the players in a game-type situation. This will help us plan for the fall camp. The performances have been better than last spring because the players are familiar with the coaches and our system."
An added attraction for the fans will be that the Sony JumboTron will be in operation for the game.
