WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Late Thursday afternoon - and into early evening - the 13 seniors-to-be on the 2002 Purdue football team met with head coach Joe Tiller in the Mollenkopf Athletic Center and drafted teams for the annual Spring Game.

The game will be played Saturday at Carmel High School in Carmel, Ind., north of Indianapolis. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m., with the gates opening at 2:45 p.m. Tickets are $4 with children under 6 admitted free. This price is a change from what originally was announced.

Following are directions to Carmel Stadium from Tippecanoe County: Interstate 65 South to Interstate 465 East to Keystone Avenue (Indiana Highway 431) - Exit No. 33. North on Keystone to 136th Street. The stadium is located on the northwest corner of Keystone and 136th.

Other game-related information:

* The first half will be played under normal game conditions, while a running clock being used in the second half. If the game is close and the losing team still has a chance to come back, regular clock use will resume.

* Halftime is scheduled for five minutes.

* Kickoff returns are live, punt returns are not.

Prior to the team departing for the game, it will hold its annual spring barbecue. Spring awards will be announced at that time.

In the previous five Spring Games under Tiller, the Gold Team has a 3-2 advantage.

As far as the rosters, the Gold Team seniors are wide receiver Chris James, defensive tackle Brandon Johnson, offensive guard Kelly Kitchel, center Gene Mruczkowski, linebacker Joe Odom and offensive guard Rob Turner. The coaches are Scott Downing, Jim Chaney, Ken Greene, Chad Brown, Jim Lathrop and Don Coller.

The Black Team seniors are running back Montrell Lowe, offensive tackle Pete Lougheed, offensive guard Max Miller, wide receiver Seth Morales, long snapper John Shelbourne and strong safety Ralph Turner. The coaches are Brock Spack, Blaine Bennett, Gary Emanuel, Ted Gilmore, Mark Hagen, Greg Olson and Burt Thornton.

Sophomore-to-be Kyle Orton will quarterback the Gold Team, along with redshirt freshman Bobby Farmer, while redshirt freshman Kyle Smith will be the Black Team signal-caller.

The following players will not participate due to injury: redshirt freshman defensive end Jeff Bennett, redshirt freshman defensive end Ryan Davis, junior linebacker Gilbert Gardner, Kitchel, sophomore offensive tackle Tyler Moore, junior running back Patrick Schaub, sophomore free safety Shane Summers, Ralph Turner and junior defensive tackle Craig Terrill. Sophomore tight end Mike Rhinehart is questionable.
