WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –
The offense held on in Saturday’s Jersey Scrimmage to beat the defense 58-53 in a modified scoring system. With the win, the offense retains the black jersey until the fall version of the scrimmage.

David Blough led the offense and finished 16 of 30 for 244 yards and two touchdowns, against one interception. Elijah Sindelar also had a nice day behind center, completing 15 of 28 passes for 222 yards and a score, including an 84-yard touchdown strike to DeAngelo Yancey. Yancey was a favorite target of both quarterbacks, hauling in seven receptions for 163 yards and the long touchdown.

The defense made it interesting, especially late, led by takeaways from Leroy Clark and Eddy Wilson. Clark picked off Blough on an underthrown ball in the end zone, while Wilson scooped up a Richie Worship fumble at the offense’s 16-yard line and returned it to the 4. Jake Replogle was all over the place, racking up nine tackles, including 4.0 for loss and two sacks. Clark finished with eight tackles and the interception, while Garrett Hudson had eight tackles and a sack.

The defense did a nice job of creating penetration, totaling 15 tackles for loss and seven sacks, though the quarterbacks were not live and the play was blown dead when a defender was in position to make a play. Sawyer Dawson and Langston Newton both had 1.5 tackles for loss on the day.

Bilal Marshall did a little bit of everything for the offense, with four catches and a touchdown, one rush and lined up at quarterback one time. The senior has been a guy that teammates, including Blough to the media after the scrimmage, and coaches have raved about all spring. Marshall had the second-most receiving yards on the day with 98, including a 38-yard catch where he made multiple guys miss.
