April 1, 2018

2018 Purdue Football Schedule / Season-Ticket Information / Spring Game Info

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After three practices earlier in the week, the football program wrapped up its fourth week of spring ball with a scrimmage Saturday. The Boilers went full pads Monday and Wednesday before backing off with a shorter, helmets-only practice Friday. Below are highlights and videos from the week, as well as the remaining schedule. All practices are open to the public and begin around 3:30 p.m. unless noted.

Monday

Corners coach Derrick Jackson has to replace both of his starters from last season, but has been encouraged with the effort of his position group this spring. He spoke with the media after Monday's practice about who has stood out.

Wednesday

Kevin Wolthausen, who spent last season as quality control for the Boilermakers, has taken on a large role as an assistant coach working with the defense and special teams. He spoke to the media for the first time since making the move.

Punter Joe Schopper is working with his third special teams coach in three seasons. He spoke about the latest changes, as well as how he manages to be a student athlete and pharmacy major at Purdue.

J.D. Dellinger and Spencer Evans split time with the kicking duties last season. Dellinger spoke with the media about what his day of practice is like and the changes with the new coaches at his position.

Friday

Mark Tommerdahl was officially hired merely 36 hours before he was on the practice field with the Boilermakers. He spoke about that and a lot more in his first opportunity in front of the media. Check out the video to get to know the Boilermakers' newest coach.

Sophomore Darius Pittman saw limited action on the field last season on special teams and at tight end. That experience, along with a ton of spring reps with teammates Cole Herdman and Brycen Hopkins missing time due to injury, has allowed him to become more comfortable in his role with the offense.

As noted above, Herdman has missed all of spring after having surgery on his toe. He spoke about the surgery and how the rehab has been going the past couple of months.

Saturday

David Blough's confidence in his injured ankle continues to soar. He spoke with the media about his health and how the offense performed in the scrimmage.

Markus Bailey felt pretty good after picking off a Blough pass in the scrimmage and how the defense responded Saturday after having a slow practice Wednesday.

The players and coaches always seem to have a good time when they get mic'd up for a practice. Center Kirk Barron and co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Brian Brohm are no exceptions.
