WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The offense got the better of the defense during parts of Thursday’s practice, according to linebackers coach Marcus Freeman. The Boilermakers worked on a number of drills before running a short, situational scrimmage at the end of practice.

Austin Appleby connected with Charles Torwudzo for a long pass on one of the first plays. Rob Henry later capped the drive off by scrambling for a touchdown.

The defense emphasized shedding blocks and never finishing a play on a block, especially with the linebackers. Freeman is impressed with a number of members from his group including Sean Robinson and Will Lucas, though he thinks they can get much better.

The full interview with Coach Freeman can be found below.

The Boilermakers return to the gridiron on Friday with a special teams session. The practice, which begins at 3:30 p.m., is expected to be held outdoors and is open to the public.
