WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - For the second night in a row, Coach Darrell Hazell had the Boilermakers going at it in the Mollenkopf Athletic Center with the fifth practice session of spring football.

Intensity on the field was ratcheted up as the team was in full pads for the first time this spring and there were a lot of players eager to get some hitting in.

One of the highlighted sessions pitted three offensive linemen and three defensive linemen against each other in a  goal line situation, with a running back attempting to score from inside the five. Coach Hazell was right in the mix, serving as the head official for the drill.

On the final play, with the top three linemen from each side, defensive tackle Ryan Watson burst into the backfield, taking down Akeem Hunt for a loss of one yard.  Watson was immediately mobbed by his defensive teammates.

Once again, it was a great crowd of between 50 and 100 fans and media members on hand.  The atmosphere continued to be electric, with music in the background for certain drills and players running from station to station.

Boilermaker All-Access caught up with running backs coach Jafar Williams as well as freshman running back David Yancey and senior defensive back Normondo Harris after practice.

Spring football continues Thursday in Mollenkopf Athletic Center.
