WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 2005 Purdue football team, under ninth-year head coach Joe Tiller, begins spring practice Saturday, April 2. The Boilermakers subsequently will work out every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from April 4 through the Spring Game on April 23.

Practices - with the exception of April 10, 17 and 22 - are scheduled to be held on the intramural fields on the west side of campus. They are open to the media and public. The team will practice in Ross-Ade Stadium on the other three dates. Check back to www.purduesports.com for times if those practices are open.

Some 89 players make up the spring roster, which is comprised of 16 seniors (13 fifth-year), 21 juniors, 25 sophomores, 24 redshirt freshmen and three true freshmen.

Purdue returns 20 starters and 41 letterwinners from its 2004 team that finished 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten (tied for fifth place). The Boilermakers are one of merely eight schools in the country to play in a bowl game each of the last eight years.

Key elements of the spring will be the continued growth of junior quarterback Brandon Kirsch, development of the offensive line and fine-tuning the defense.

Purdue's Spring Game is slated for April 23 at Ross-Ade Stadium beginning at 11 a.m. Admission is free.
