WEST LAFAYETTE - Day two of Purdue spring practice brought out another nice crowd of fans as several dozen Boilermaker faithful gathered inside Mollenkopf Athletic Center. And what they saw was a more crisp squad.
With a focus on ball-security, there were fewer issues with fumbles and dropped passes than on day one, as could be expected.
Near the end of practice, with music once again pumping through the facility sound system, fans were treated to a little bit of 11-on-11. And while the defense earned a few tipped passes and at least one sack, the offense stole the show thanks to a few long plays.
At the beginning of the final session, running back Brandon Cottom caught a swing pass in the flat and rumbled more than 60 yards inside the 10 before finally being tracked down. A few plays later, fellow back Akeem Hunt took an inside handoff to the house from about 40 yards out.
The Boilermakers return to the field Friday for session three of the spring.
