WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Head coach Darrell Hazell held his first spring practice as a Boilermaker on Tuesday. The team worked out for approximately two hours in helmets and jerseys during the open practice.
The practice was the first chance for fans to see Hazell and his staff in action. Fans and media saw the team work on a number of team drills including seven-on-seven, install, and situational 11-on-11, among others.
Coach Hazell and his nine assistant coaches brought intensity and energy and demanded a rapid pace and attention to detail. The first practice wasn’t without its mistakes, though the head coach and select players were fairly pleased with the first day. The interview with Coach Hazell, Rob Henry and Ryan Russell, as well as some practice footage can be seen below.
The team will return to practice on Thursday inside the Mollenkopf Indoor Practice Facility. The session will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. and conclude around 5:15. The practice is open to the general public and media.
