2018 Purdue Football Schedule / Season-Ticket Information

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue football program opened its spring season with three practices during the first week. Beautiful weather Monday and Wednesday allowed the Boilermakers to head outside, while rain Thursday pushed them inside Mollenkopf. Helmets and jerseys were the attire for the first two days, with shoulder pads added to the mix Thursday. Below are some of the highlights of the week and the remaining spring schedule. All practices are open to the public and begin around 3:30 unless noted.

Fifth-year senior quarterback and Purdue graduate David Blough suffered a gruesome ankle dislocation in the fourth quarter of last season's contest vs. Illinois. Projected to be a six-month recovery time, the Carrollton, Texas, native vowed to be back on the field for spring ball. Just under fourth months after going down, Blough made good on his promise.

With the loss of co-offensive coordinator/special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Tony Levine and the addition of a 10th assistant coach during the off season, head coach Jeff Brohm had a couple of slots to fill. Kevin Wolthausen, who worked as quality control for the Boilermakers last season, and Mark Tommerdahl, hired just last Saturday, made their debut on the field.

The return of Blough afforded co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Brian Brohm the luxury of a veteran leader to go along with redshirt freshman Nick Sipe and early enrollee Jack Plummer under center. The second-year assistant spoke with the media after practice about his position group.

With the loss of a ton of veteran talent and leadership to graduation, co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Nick Holt is looking forward to the challenge of filling those slots. He spoke with the media after practice about the road ahead.

Running back Richie Worship tore his ACL in practice the week leading up to the Iowa game last season. The Cleveland, Ohio, native spoke publicly for the first time since the injury. Watch the video to see who he leaned on during the trying times after going down.

Running backs coach Chris Barclay has fewer guys in his position group due to injury. He spoke about the challenge of having merely three healthy guys at his spot and how he has adjusted his work with them this spring.

Senior Markell Jones came on strong at the end of the 2017 season, including a 217-yard effort against IU in the Old Oaken Bucket game. He has challenged himself to improve even more in his final spring season.
