PURDUE POSTGAME QUOTES

Joe Tiller, Head Coach
On the final 2 minutes...
~ I told our guys that we did a really good job doubling our margin of victory from the last time we played. I guess we are twice as good as we were. Guys just stepped up and made clutch plays. Valentin with the long catch and Sheets with the game-winning touchdown run.

On the likelihood of a defensive struggle...
~ I thought there would be big numbers. I thought we should have thrown more in the first half, which we talked about at halftime. I think we did a good job in the second half, stepping up and making plays.

On Kory Sheets' touchdown in the final minute...
~ We thought they would be defending the pass, so we decided to call a rush. Kory broke the play outside, and once he gets outside he is tough to catch... the rest was history.

Curtis Painter, QB
On Frank Duong's interception...
~ It's huge anytime you get a score on the defensive side of the ball. Our defense continued to put it on (Central Michigan) after the interception, making plays when it counted.

On what was going through his mind entering the final drive...
~ The fumble was a tough call for us. The last possession was like the end of the Motor City Bowl, when we wanted to drive down and get a field goal. The penalty on the kickoff return was huge in our favor, and from there it was all Kory Sheets. I would like to think we would have driven and scored anyway had Kory not broke off that run.

Kory Sheets, RB
On the final touchdown run...
~ I saw daylight, and the hole couldn't get any bigger. Any runner could have made it through that hole - it just happened to be me in this instance. Since spring ball, the coaches have told us when you are one-on-one with a safely you have to win. I did that.

On Joe Tiller's record-setting win...
~ It means a lot to us to be a part of this game. It was something that was in the back of minds, wanting to do this for coach. Now he can retire and always have this honor with him.

Desmond Tardy, WR/KOR
On the final kickoff return...
~ The coaches told the return unit it was up to us. We have a great return team, and fortunately enough we got the job done. I got the ball, broke a tackle and drew the facemask penalty. I'd like to say I did it for Kory Sheets. I didn't want to take it to the house... I'm a team guy.

Frank Duong, DB
On his interception return for a touchdown...
~ It is still kind of surreal. It hasn't hit me yet. The ball was in the air and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN POSTGAME QUOTES

BUTCH JONES, Head Coach
On his reaction to his team after the game...
~ I'm proud of them. They gave everything they had. They did a great job of executing what we practiced all week. We can be as good as we want to be, we just have to finish the game.

On the play of Dan LeFevour...
~ Dan did a great job of running our offense, and made some big plays for us. We just have to protect him better in the pocket.

On playing Purdue for a third time in 13 months...
~ I have great respect for their program. We had an opportunity to win the last two meetings in the final minute, we just couldn't finish them off.

Dan LeFevour, QB
On Purdue's defense...
~ Similar to last year, they put on a lot of pressure. They are quick and they are physical, and you have to know what you are doing before the snap. You have to be on time because they are coming at you.

SEAN MURNANE, DT
On the last few plays at the end of the game...
~ It all came down to one or two plays that could have gone either way. We played as hard as we could.

On Kory Sheets' game-winning run...
~ The whole thing that was stressed to us this week by our coaches was "do your job." Unfortunately, on the big run, someone was out of their assigned gap and allowed the run to break free.
