Pugh joined the Boilermakers after serving as Western Kentucky's football character coach from 2008 to 2016. In that capacity, he counseled coaches and players, led Bible studies, organized community service efforts, and worked with the team on life skills development.
Pugh also has served as a pastor at the Hillvue Heights Church (2010-15), the WKU campus director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (2014-16) and as the lead pastor at Church on the Main (2015-16). He got his start in collegiate athletics in the FCA's training program at Auburn from August 2007 to May 2008.
A four-year letterwinner as an offensive lineman at Western Kentucky, the Hilltoppers advanced to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs twice during Pugh's career. He graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and went on to earn a master of theology from Campbellsville University in 2014.
