Ted Gilmore is in his second season as wide receivers coach. He was named to the position March 5, 2001.

During the 2001 season, seven different receivers caught passes, led by redshirt freshman Taylor Stubblefield with 73 receptions (fourth on the school list) for 910 yards (11th on the school list) and two touchdowns. He ranked third in the Big Ten Conference with 6.1 receptions per game and eighth with an average of 75.8 yards receiving per game.

Gilmore came to the Boilermakers from Houston, where he served as receivers coach during the 2000 season. He worked with the Cougars’ career receptions leader, Orlando Iglesias, who finished with 222 catches for 2,810 yards and now plays for the Tennessee Titans.

In 1999, Gilmore coached the tight ends at Kansas.

Gilmore coached the receivers at Wyoming in 1997 and 1998 after a three-year stint as a graduate assistant under current Purdue head coach Joe Tiller (working with the receivers and tight ends). Among the players Gilmore mentored was Wendell Montgomery, who ranks third on the Cowboys’ career receptions (181) and receiving yards (2,883) lists.

Gilmore played at Wyoming in 1988 and 1989 after transferring from Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan. He had 40 receptions for a team-leading 594 yards with three touchdowns in 1988 and was named second team All-Western Athletic Conference in 1989 after catching 32 passes for 445 yards with two touchdowns. The 1988 Wyoming team finished 11-2, including 8-0 in the WAC, and played in the Holiday Bowl. Gilmore earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1991.

Gilmore (born March 21, 1967) is a native of Wichita, Kan. He and his wife, Jennifer, have a daughter, Taylor. The couple is expecting a second child in December of 2002.
